Researchers seek to compare the brains of people with and without major depression. Researchers are looking at the brain’s response to two low doses of ketamine, under investigational use for depression. This research study is enrolling adults ages 18 to 65, who do not have serious medical conditions, and do not have mood disorders.

Study participation includes visits over six- to seven-weeks (inpatient & outpatient). Study procedures may include: two low doses of ketamine infusions and two doses of matching placebo, brain scans, blood tests, sleeps studies, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) assessments.

There is no cost to participate. Compensation of up to $2,790 is provided for participation. The study enrolls eligible participants living within 50 miles of the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
