NIMH IRP Three-Minute Talks (TmT) Coaching and Competition
The OFT sponsors the annual Three-Minute Talks (TmT) Competition for intramural trainees (Postbac, Predoc, Postdoc, Visiting, Research and Clinical Fellows) at NIMH. Trainees can apply to compete in communicating their research in concise three-minute presentations.
Trainees who apply for the Round One competition will receive individualized coaching sessions by public speaking coach Scott Morgan. One-on-one TmT coaching sessions provides a safe and nurturing environment where trainees receive feedback on speech development and delivery.
TmT Competition finalists have the opportunity to present their three-minute talks at the TmT Finals Competition at the Annual NIMH IRP Fellows’ Scientific Training Day.
Note: The “Speaking About Science Seminar: Introduction to Essential Communication Skills”
provides an introduction to the TmT format and competition. All trainees who wish to apply for the TmT competition must attend or have attended this seminar.
The TmT competition is held annually—Round One is held between May and August and the Finals Competition is held in September.
Check your email and the OFT group on Microsoft Teams for event details.
