HIV Care Engagement and Secondary Prevention Program

Overview

This program supports research to understand and address the determinants of prevention and care outcomes for people living with HIV (PLWH). Specifically, this program supports research to address factors that impede the uptake and effectiveness of prevention and care strategies for PLWH, as well as strategies to understand and harness factors that facilitate prevention and care for PLWH.

Areas of Emphasis

• Understand determinants of prevention outcomes for PLWH and develop innovative approaches for secondary prevention and timely HIV care engagement.
• Develop, test, and bring to scale effective interventions to address mental disorders as a barrier to HIV testing, linkage, and engagement in care and treatment.
• Develop and test innovative approaches to address HIV stigma as a barrier to HIV testing, effective secondary prevention, and timely care engagement.
• Develop and test effective approaches to address the HIV prevention, care, and treatment needs of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men who are living with HIV.
• Develop and test effective models to increase identification of HIV-infected individuals and ensure timely linkage to care.
• Studies that investigate the optimal combination of interventions to ensure the most effective test, linkage to care, and treatment approach.
