“Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?”

--from The Fly by William Blake

Flies are like us in many essential ways. We share many of the same genes and these genes drive similar developmental processes to put our respective bodies and brains together. And just as we need to get by in the world—finding the good things we need and avoiding the bad things—flies do too. And they need their brains to do it! This video will tell you a little bit about how the Section on Neural Function is using the similarities (and differences!) between flies and humans to understand how our brains govern behavior.
