What impacts choices we make?
How we feel can impact the choices we make. Researchers in the Unit on Computational Decision Neuroscience want to learn more about how unpleasant feelings such as sadness, stress, or pain can change a person’s behavior.
By learning more about how emotions affecting thinking and behavior, we hope to better understand how to identify and treat people with mental disorders.
Who may be eligible to participate?
You may be able to participate if you:
- Are between the ages of 18-55
- Do not have a diagnosed mental health disorder
- Are otherwise medically healthy
What is involved in participation?
This research study will include:
- Three visits to the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD
- Medical evaluation
- Questionnaires
- Exposure to a situation that causes a temporary change in emotional state. This may include unpleasant physical or emotional feelings such as mild pain, snack craving, or stress.
Is compensation provided?
Yes, compensation will be provided for this study.
