NIMH Launches Twitter Account for Director

Dr. Joshua Gordon to tweet research, news, events, and funding opportunities

Institute Update

Today, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) launched an official Twitter account—@NIMHDirector —for Joshua A. Gordon, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the NIMH. As the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders, NIMH established its enterprise Twitter account, @NIMHgov , in May of 2009. It surpassed more than a million followers earlier this year.

“I’m hoping to make the most of this opportunity to share exciting new developments in mental health research,” said Dr. Gordon. “I understand the impact of social media and I’m eager to join the conversation on Twitter.”

Dr. Gordon joined NIMH in September of 2016. Through Twitter, he plans to share his vision and priorities for the Institute, build relationships with other leaders invested in mental health research, and share his thoughts on NIMH news items and resources.

Follow Dr. Gordon at @NIMHDirector . For more information about Dr. Gordon, visit the NIMH website.
