Grants Management Branch

Overview

The Grants Management Branch (GMB) negotiates and issues over $1 billion in grants and cooperative agreements, annually.  GMB responsibilities are complex and critical to the Institute’s mission and success.  GMB staff ensures that all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements are met by the NIMH and the grantees and (accordingly) directs all business-related activities associated with NIMH awards, including:

  • Having sole authority to obligate funds and provide official grant approvals;
  • Working with program in the development of funding opportunity announcements (FOA);
  • Application of funding guidelines and terms and conditions of award;
  • Resolution of budget and administrative issues for individual grants;
  • Interpretation and development of policies as they relate to the grant award process;
  • Oversight of all post award fiscal and administrative issues;
  • Maintaining all official grant award records; and,
  • Providing guidance to the NIMH and the grantee community.
