Program Overview
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is seeking exceptional candidates for a Clinical Psychologist position.
Position Overview
A Clinical Psychologist (licensed or license-eligible) is sought to provide contractual services for the Unit on Computational Decision Neuroscience (CDN), in the Emotion and Development Branch (EDB), in the Intramural Research Program (IRP) at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).
The unit collaborates to perform neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological assessments for NIH Clinical Center inpatient and outpatient studies.
A main duty for the incumbent is to provide clinical and research-level assessments for patients of all ages and of all severity levels, with an emphasis on healthy, at-risk, or affected individuals, all of whom are high functioning. These assessments are all conducted through research protocols affiliated with NIH.
The incumbent will also have the opportunity to participate in the planning and execution of clinical research. The incumbent will work with staff on data collection, entry and analyses of behavioral phenotypic data from a variety of studies, including those in several Branches of the NIMH and other NIH Institutes. Skill with data processing and analysis is desirable but not required. Some experience in a research setting also is desirable, as is authorship in publications and presentations. The duties performed will be broad. This will include providing consultation to multidisciplinary research teams regarding study findings for incorporation into research manuscripts and presentations.
The incumbent will also have the opportunity to educate research staff regarding the use of psychological testing and other facets of clinical psychology. This will include training research assistants, staff and other trainees.
Qualifications
This position is suited for a licensed or license-eligible clinical psychologist with experience in assessment in neurodevelopmental populations (e.g. intellectual disability, autism). Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology; clinical and research experience is required. We are seeking someone with an understanding of adult and pediatric neuropsychiatric disorders and research design, familiarity with clinical research as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. Specific skills, knowledge and experience with patient care and clinical trial management, work with special populations (children, adolescents, adult, elderly), Semi-structured interviews (such as SCID, the K-SADS) and screening.

The SOAR Contract was awarded to 5 vendors with a 60-month period of performance.
